Case Studies of Our Work

School District of Palm Beach County, Florida
In fall 2002, the challenges of the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) were about to be accelerated by No Child Left Behind. At the same time, the district became intensely aware that students needed technology skills and technical knowledge to be competitive in the workforce.

Wayne RESA
Increasing requirements for students with disabilities to access the general education curriculum and attain proficiency meant that systemic changes were needed. It was time to discard the tradition of parallel systems for general education and special education and create new approaches to instructing all students.

Pasadena Independent School District
With a broadly held passion for school improvement and a true commitment to high levels of academic and lifelong success for each child, the Pasadena Independent School District sought to reinvent its high schools to meet the needs of 21st century learners. The district has now broadened the challenge to a PreK-12 reformation.

Jefferson County High School
After Jefferson County High School opened in 1995, it was plagued by a serious academic achievement gap and a culture of underperformance. In 2004, the graduation rates hit an all time low of 63.2%. Significant change and work were necessary if Jefferson County High School was to live up to its promise as the economic future of the county.

Dekaney High School
In 2007-08, Dekaney High School was labeled Academically Unacceptable for its math scores on the state assessment. The overall student passing rate in science was even worse.
  • Math - 47%
  • Science - 45%

Brockton High School
When the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) was initiated in 1998:
  • 44% of Brockton students failed English Language Arts and only 22% reached proficiency
  • 75% failed mathematics and only 7% reached proficiency

Nevada Department of Education
Nevada’s original State Improvement Plan (STIP) plan brought to light the need for an integrated statewide system that focuses on components which are critical to:
  • Raising the achievement of all students
  • Reducing the achievement gap
